Serenity Designs UF
We are a UF company driven by creativity, sustainability, and personal expression. Our business focuses on upcycling and redesigning old garments into unique fashion pieces that match each customer’s personal style. By giving old clothes a second life, we aim to reduce unnecessary waste while creating fashion that feels both meaningful and original.
Our concept is built around transforming old or unused clothing through different customizable methods that customers can choose from depending on their own style and vision. We offer bleach designs with unique patterns and artwork, sewing alterations such as sizing garments up or down, and reworking pieces like turning jeans into skirts. We also create custom prints through heat press and hand-painted designs. Every piece is made together with the customer, making each product personal, creative, and one of a kind. In this way, every customer gets their own custom piece that nobody else has an exact copy of, making the clothing feel more unique and special to the owner. We want our customers to feel confident wearing something that truly represents their personality while also making a more sustainable choice.
Our target audience ranges from teenagers and young adults to people in their early and mid-20s who enjoy unique fashion and want to express themselves through their clothing. We started this company from a shared passion for fashion, creativity, and individuality, as well as a desire to contribute to a more sustainable future within the fashion industry.
Through our company, we hope to inspire more people to choose sustainable fashion and show that creativity and environmental awareness can go hand in hand. Our goal is not only to create customized clothing, but also to build a brand that encourages self-expression, originality, and conscious consumption.
Most of our sales took place during the official UF-mässan, where we got the chance to meet customers face to face. This was definitely the best setting for us, since we could show our products properly and explain the different methods we use, such as bleaching, sewing, resizing, and custom prints. Being able to talk directly to people made it much easier for them to understand our ideas and what our brand stands for. Even though the UF-mässan was where we made the most sales, the UF mini mässan at our school was also really valuable for us. That’s where we got a lot of interest, feedback, and ideas from other likeminded students. Since it was mainly people our own age, it helped us connect more naturally and improve how we present and explain our products.
Our sales came from both friends who supported us and many strangers who were genuinely interested in our designs. During the UF fair, we also had the opportunity to talk with representatives from Swedbank, who encouraged us to continue developing our company after graduation and mentioned that we could contact them in the future for guidance regarding things like loans, planning, and general support if we choose to keep going. To attract attention at the events, we used different fun and interactive ways to engage people. One method that worked especially well was our “spin the wheel” activity with small prizes, which helped us catch attention and naturally start conversations about our products.
We also approached people directly and politely asked if they had a minute to hear about what we do. This actually worked better than expected, since many people who were already slightly interested became more engaged once we explained our concept properly instead of just them walking past.
One thing we learned from all of this is that small details really make a difference. At the UF fair, our first three customers each received a small thank-you gift with their purchase, such as a silver bracelet and a chocolate bar. It made the experience feel more personal and appreciated. We also noticed that when we take time to clearly explain our ideas and what we stand for, people are more trusting and more likely to follow our social media even if they don’t buy anything right away.
